We were kindly gifted tickets to visit Diggerland to review our day there! We went to Diggerland in Durham to see what it was all about…
I must admit, I think my partner was the most excited out of everyone!! I’m forever looking for things we can do as a family, and so we can get Freddie out the house on a weekend. With me and Sam working during the week we want to make weekends count!
Freddie absolutely loves the outdoors, so I knew he would have a great time here.
If your looking for a place where there’s something for everyone, then this is the place for you.
As you first walk through the digger theme is in full swing! There’s a safety video to watch before you enter. They have still made the TV child friendly so kids will be more curious and maybe stay and watch it!
Freddie was still too small to go on a lot of the stuff.. but the stuff he could go on he was absolutely thrilled with. Anyone who knows my child knows he likes to sit and work things out. The second he got on a digger he thought it was great. There was buttons and leavers he could play with all over! He didn’t quite get the aim of the games.. but they certainly did not stop him!
The staff on the rides were so nice and so understanding! There was a ride where Freddie was able to go on on his own. At first I was SO nervous but the staff made me feel so at ease. She told me to just shout if it looked like Freddie wasn’t enjoying it and she would stop. Of course Freddie was having the time of his life on it though. So much so that whenever he wasn’t on it and the ride was going off he was running over, shouting, and trying to get through the gate.
Freddie also had such a lovely time just walking around the place and exploring, watching what was going on. Sam got far too excited and went off to go and play on some of the big diggers on his own. He’s honestly such a big kid. As soon as we left he said we need to go there again. There was even some static vehicles which Freddie could climb and explore. He loved the army truck with all the buttons inside it.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side, and it began to rain. With it being outdoors we decided to take some shelter. The good news was.. there was a soft play area! As soon as Freddie saw this, that was it! We struggled to even get him out of the place after that. There was stuff there for children of all ages. There was also a little bouncy castle they could play on.
If you fancy getting some food whilst your there they also have a little cafe where you can enjoy some food together on your day out. It saves you having to find somewhere to eat, so you know everything is all under one roof!
As we left we got a really cute surprise.. It’s always the personal touches which get me too, and as we left they wrote out a certificate for Freddie to take home.
We definitely want to go back and visit once Freddie is a little bit taller. It’s definitely a family fun place, everyone will definitely have smiles on their faces.
If anyone is trying to find some summer days out whilst the kids are off school, have a look into Diggerland!
